Tales of Tails
This post is sponsored by Golden Hare Books, a local independent bookshop located in Stockbridge in Edinburgh, Scotland. Golden Hare has been a favourite since I studied abroad in Edinburgh in 2016, and I was thrilled when selected to review the new Read More subscription box. I received a personalised note, a guide to the box, two books, and a pin, valued at £25 for a one month subscription, in exchange for a review in a blog post.

Read More. A favourite phrase and mantra for my life. The new subscription box from Golden Hare Books, Read More, combines two of my favourite things: books and surprises!
First of all, what a beautiful box to receive in the mail! Outfitted with Golden Hare’s signature colours of navy, gold, and white, mine even had a bit of golden confetti peeking out of the side.
The beginning of the unboxing was so exciting. I received a personalised note and a guide to the box with a detailed description of the November 2018 theme, Season of Mists. Here’s my favourite description of the November box from the Golden Hare website:
“As long nights take hold and leaves turn brown, autumn is the season of the reader. A bite in the air is the perfect excuse to curl up with a cup of tea, or perhaps a glass of whisky, and ignore the elements. There’s only one thing missing: the perfect book. Let us help you there. For our very first Read More box, whether you’ve chosen fiction or nonfiction, our booksellers have selected fantastic books perfect for the long autumn nights ahead.”
Abi (my wonderful photographer) and I selected the National Museum of Scotland for the unboxing location. What could be better than an afternoon at a gorgeous museum coupled with two new books to enjoy in between browsing exhibits?
We’re almost to the best part: the book choices! I wanted to showcase the incredible attention to detail that Golden Hare puts into every product, every word, and every moment spent in the shop too. If you are in Edinburgh or plan to visit soon, hop over to Stockbridge and enjoy a browse.
Here we go: time for the two fiction picks! I received If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura and Pages for You by Sylvia Brownrigg.
From the introduction (the unboxing) to plot (the book reveal) to conclusion (the adorable pin- photos below), I would 100% recommend the Golden Hare Books Read More subscription box. Not only is this a great way to receive a serendipitous package every month, it’s also an amazing way to cozy up with new books in a cafe, in a museum, or in your own home.
***You can still reserve your December Read More subscription box if you select this subscription on the Golden Hare website here before Friday, November 30!
Special thanks to Golden Hare Books for this opportunity and to Abi Houliston for the incredible photography!
